"Successful people realize that the real competition is actually with oneself." ~ Alex Hammer
Alex Hammer is a successful businessman who has been studying other successful people for most of his life. In this excellent book he explains why successful people think differently. He begins his book discussing the importance of emotional intelligence and I think that is a great place to start. He also makes a good point about how we create our reality and shows how we are we create our reality and shows how we are more powerful than we think we are.
Since life is such a good teacher, Alex Hammer has also learned life lessons that he passes on to the reader in an enjoyable way. I really loved his writing style and how he conveyed each point so effectively. He is also very well read so includes a lot of wisdom quotes that explore the truths he discusses in more detail. I liked how he made logical conclusions based on his keen observations.
Some of the most interesting sections of the book address the various misconceptions about people who have become very wealthy. You can earn a high income and treat people well. Tips are given on how to do this throughout life.
Alex Hammer also answers some interesting questions:
Should I be competitive or cooperative?
Why do many lottery winners quickly become poor again?
How can you increase your skills so you become more valuable and have more to offer people?
What is the best way to network effectively?
What keeps you successful once you have reached the top?
If you are already successful you will recognize all the truth in this book. If you are longing for success then you will find some of the secrets to fulfilling your dreams.
This is one of those books where you will want to underline something important on each page. This is one of the most important books I have read in 2013. I look forward to reading more books by this author.

The Laws and Secrets of Success Is A Very Unique Book - This book I found very meaningful and helpful for me!

Over the years I have read several self-help books covering how to be successful and build self-confidence, this kind of thing. Some helped I found, some did not really help while others seemed to parrot the same old, same old information. However, this book I found very UNIQUE and REFRESHING! The author writes in a very conversational way, it is almost like he is sitting next to me and describing his success secrets. And I also found this book very easy to follow as each area of this book is in a way that I can relate to.
My favorite sections of this book are:
|+||Show Don't Tell - This part of the book lumped off the page and into my head as I thought: YES!!! Show me, don't tell me.|
|+||The Confidence of NO - What an eyeopener for me as this was presented so differently that is is bookmarked now!!! Also in this section, I like the contract of saying YES when saying NO would be out of the question! *This part of the book I highlighted and bookmarked - it will help me to make so so many YES/NO decisions!|
|+||Rising to the Top is Only the Beginning - This I found so helpful and meaningful to me! It shows many things to consider when in a success period and what happens it the success is no more - can lead to a better one. Love how he describes this!|
"The power of his intuitions is infectious."
There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so' Shakespeare

There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so' Shakespeare When an author of preludes his book on the laws and secrets of success with the words, `I believe that in "pa ying it forward" we'll contribute to a world in which there is, ultimately, more for all. I don't believe that life is a zero sum game. I believe that every interaction we have in the world is important, and can in fact be sacred if we approach it as such. As is also famously said, the life you save, may just well be your own', then it is immediately apparent that this is a man who cares about more than the title of his book: he has a deep concern for mankind. Author Alex Hammer is the Founder and CEO of Media 2.0, a leading content and ecommerce company and has helped many through self-empowerment through his teachings. His wisdom is in part due to his very straightforward manner of communication as is amply evident in this book.
Hammer divides his book into chapters that help the reader understanding of success: A Deeper and More Nuanced Understanding of Emotional Intelligence (how success goes well beyond a predictive understanding of others and what they are likely to do); The Three C's - (Competition, Challenge and Character) -(how the successful take responsibility for their lives rather than making excuses or casting blame); The Strength of Your Network Inbox (it is much more important who includes you than who you seek to include); The Move From Domination to Discovery (how the successful move beyond mastery and leaving their footprint on others and the world to leveraging the strengths of others in a service and partnership model); The Strength of the Ant (how the successful frame their herculean efforts and results within the context of respect and appreciation for the abilities of others); Show, Don't Tell (the importance of backbone over wishbone); The Confidence of No (the balance of the successful between influencing others and allowing themselves to be influenced); The Wisdom to Know The Difference (the role of discernment, judgment and attitude in success) and Rising to the Top is Only the Beginning (why some stay on top and continue to rise and excel while other successful individuals fall back down).
Throughout his book Hammer keeps it simple in discourse but the power of his intuitions is infectious. This is a very fine book for all of us but especially for young people who fear the world outside and whether they and make it. Or as Hammer phrases it so succinctly, "Reflect a strong sends of inner completeness, satisfaction and richness, true wealth, etc that become manifested in the world in the forms of mon ey, harmonious relationships, and health".
